Sepal AI is hiring a Bioinformatician to help build the world’s most rigorous technical assessment. Our goal is to test the real-world capabilities of AI models to evaluate AI progress. We’re looking for someone who bridges the worlds of experimental genomics and reproducible software engineering. We are looking for someone who can contribute as little as 8 hours for just a few days, or up to 40 hours per week for the next few months, starting right away. What you’ll do - Identify suitable research and build fully reproducible pipelines. - Author novel, technically sound questions and answers - Work closely with top AI researchers and engineers to track model development and risk - Think like a systems builder. Help define templates, quality bars, and review norms so we can scale this work to hundreds of high-quality tasks. Perfect Candidate: - ABD, PhD, or Graduate student in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a closely related quantitative life-science field. - Published (or co-authored) peer-reviewed papers that relied on self-built sequencing pipelines. - 3 + years building production-grade NGS workflows—comfortably swaps between DNA-seq, RNA-seq, single-cell, or variant-calling pipelines. Skills: - Familiarity with using and changing tools like fastp bwa samtools featureCounts. - Frequent user of Bash / Python / R scripts and documents flags, seeds, and version pins. - (Bonus) Fluent with at least one workflow manager (Snakemake, Nextflow, or WDL) and containerization (Docker/Conda). Logistics: - Pay: up to $100 per hour depending on experience - Work arrangement: Remote - Timing: Desire to start ASAP (need immediate support) - flexible contract and durations
