Responsibilities: **
- Assisting the laboratory manager in maximizing plant operations to achieve highest quality by testing and analyzing plant products.
- Assisting laboratory manger in all tasks required to ensure safe and efficient laboratory operations.
- Analyzing data retrieved from plant processes to establish consistency and ensure quality is supreme by utilizing laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
- Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment as needed and as expected by laboratory manager.
- Communicate testing results with plant staff to maintain optimal efficiency, safety, quality, and quantity of products.
- Communicate with maintenance staff for preventative maintenance of problem areas.
- Track inventory of laboratory supplies to maintain supplies as needed.
- Be aware of plant operations and process conditions by conducting daily rounds of the plant.
- Maintain high level of service and work performance, promote a team environment and maintain a pleasant work environment.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety policies as required.
- Will support all policies, goals, and objectives of the company and represent the company in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
- Other duties that may be assigned to accomplish the safety and timely day-to-day operations within the plant.
Qualifications:
- Must have ability to work independently and work in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy in utilizing various software, databases, and Microsoft Office.
- High School Diploma required.
- Education/experience in chemistry, biology, environmental science or a related field is highly preferred.
- Previous laboratory and/or quality assurance experience highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of laboratory practices and equipment is preferred.
- Must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to multi-task.
- Knowledge of the following laboratory equipment/testing is preferred:
- High Performance Liquid Chromatography
- Gas Chromatography
- Karl Fischer
- Ion Chromatography
- IR, NIR, and µwave moisture analyzers
- Titrations
Physical Demands:
- Will regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- May be exposed to cold, wet, windy, or humid conditions.
- Will be regularly exposed to high noise environments.
- Will work with chemicals used in plant and laboratory processes.
