Position Overview:
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical Oncology, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. Your expertise will support patients through their diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, ensuring they receive compassionate and evidence-based care in a dynamic hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care for oncology patients receiving systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatments.
- Monitor and manage adverse reactions, including neutropenia, extravasation, and other treatment-related complications.
- Assess and address symptom burdens such as nausea, pain, mucositis, and fatigue through evidence-based nursing interventions.
- Maintain and care for central venous access devices, including PICCs, ports, and tunneled catheters, following institutional protocols.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary oncology team to develop and adjust individualized care plans.
- Offer emotional support and education to patients and their families, guiding them through diagnosis, treatment options, and goals of care.
- Document patient care activities accurately and ensure adherence to safety standards and infection control policies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology or medical-surgical nursing.
- Current and valid Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credential preferred.
- Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification (ONS) preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment skills, compassion, and excellent communication abilities.
Shift & Schedule:
- Night shifts: 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.
