Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Cancer Registry Administrator to join our State Cancer Registry team. This vital role involves managing and maintaining accurate cancer data received from healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the registry's daily operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management, administrative skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and familiarity with health information systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to cancer surveillance and patient care quality at the state and national levels.

It is a full-time contract position through Indiana Department of Health's designated contractor, hybrid work schedule (3 days on site, 2 days remote) at the state cancer registry. Position will report to the Cancer Registry Director.

Duties

1. Files incoming cancer data reports from healthcare facilities (electronically stores faxed, mailed information).

2. Conducts death clearance followback (detailed guidance and orientation will be provided).

3. Conducts data pull for virtually pooled registry requests from the research community or national agencies for approved studies (guidance and orientation will be provided).

4. Updates cancer reporting healthcare facility contact information in software systems SEER*DMS, WebPlus.

5. Participates in developing registry policies and procedures to standardize operations (co-write SOPs under guidance).

Requirements

Proficiency in using computers (Microsoft Enterprise - Word, Excel, Teams) and ability to quickly learn and use new software systems
Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferably, in public health, health administration, health sciences.
Minimum two years of work experience in roles related to collecting and managing data in health care or in health care administration.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements.
Ability to compose technically accurate correspondence and reports using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Ability to attend to detail and maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently.
Teamwork skills.
Knowledge of health regulations related to cancer reporting is a plus

This position is essential for supporting cancer surveillance efforts at the state and national levels.

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
