Summary: The Directorof Clinical Informaticsimproves orsupports the improvement of the health and well-beingofpatientsthroughpromotingexcellence in patient care and clinicalsystems. The Director of ClinicalInformatics leads adoption and optimization of the Electronic Health Records (EHR) and associated clinical applications.
Areasof Responsibility:
ClinicalDuties:
- Provides for the diagnosis and treatment of health center patients within the scope of his/her license to practice medicine fora specified panelof patients at one of the health center’s large sites
- Provides back-up foradvanced practice clinicians on site, orby phone during the day orafter hours
ManagementResponsibilities:
- Serves as advisorto the CMO and clinicalleadership team with regard to clinicalissues and the impact that EHR and associated application has or may have on clinicalpractice
- Provides clinicalleadership in the areas of planning, development, preparation and implementation of the EHR, associated applications and upgrades
- Gainsthesupportofcliniciansregarding informationtechnologyneedsandpriorities
- Works closely with the training team to design and implement onboarding and ongoing EHR training to clinicians
- Provides responsive service based on user needs including training to assure widespread acceptance and provider use of clinical systems
- Identifies areas to promote use of Epicto create efficiencies forclinicians and to improve the quality of care
- Leads the customization of the EHRforclinicaluse and supervises allEpicProviderBuilders in any EHR build tasks
- Designs and implements clinicaldecision support to support clinicalguidelines and best practices to improve the quality of care
- Works closely with CMO and Directorof Quality Improvement to provide leadership in supporting quality initiatives and a culture of innovation
