UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is a 298-bed, full-service hospital which has served generations of patients in south Louisville. Originally founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1874, the hospital offers a full range of vascular, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, surgical, rehabilitative and 24/7 emergency services including 24/7 STEMI service. The hospital has been recognized as one of the first health care facilities in the nation to receive a Blue Distinction® Center for bariatric surgery.
Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and skilled Registered Nurses (RN) to join our Emergency Department team at Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. The RN will provide high-quality acute care to diverse patient populations in a fast-paced environment, ensuring comprehensive assessment, treatment, and support. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative team committed to excellence in emergency medicine.
Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and initial triage evaluations to prioritize care needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage airway support, IV infusions, and catheter care for patients requiring critical or acute interventions.
- Document patient information accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with complex needs.
- Assist in procedures including suturing, tube feeding management, and specimen collection/processing as required.
- Provide compassionate patient care in emergency situations, including trauma response and acute pain management.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice or compact license.
- Proven experience in emergency medicine or critical care settings such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to emergency care.
- Ability to perform advanced skills including IV insertion, ventilator management, and sterile processing procedures.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.

Pay: $32.00 - $45.00 per week
