Full Time Lab Technician Position Description

Ergon A & E is looking for a Lab Technician to join our team at our Asphalt plant in Cheyenne, WY. As the Lab Technician you will be in an analytical position to ensure product quality meets/exceeds applicable governing agency specifications and requirements.
Under Direct Supervision of the Production Leader/Facility Manager Responsibilities include:
· Perform all periodic tests and certifications to assure quality of products per site specific testing matrices and state agencies plans.
· Strict adherence to state agency plans and the Product Process Management System (PPM) requirements for products produced, stored and shipped.
· Complete necessary paperwork regarding quality of products as required by PPM and the state agency plans.
· Keep current with applicable testing requirements and standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.)
· Maintain lab equipment clean, calibrated and in working order.
· Keep lab supply inventory current and place orders as needed.
· Notify Facility Manager, Production Leader and Tech Ops personnel of any potential product quality issues.
· Communicate as needed with Paragon Technical Services Inc. regarding materials tested and any products being designed, developed or evaluated for the facility by them.
· Provide samples as requested by customers, Tech Ops and state DOT.
· Knowledge and compliance to Ergon Asphalt & Emulsion Inc.; Environmental Health & Safety rules, regulations and policies.
· Any other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager
Requirements:
· High School diploma or GED
· Good math skills
· Ability to work without direct supervision, good communication skills
· Ability to read and follow written instructions and work well with others
· Ability to learn computer skills
· Ability to learn sampling and test methods
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Physical Demands or Unusual Working Conditions:
All Laboratory Technicians must be capable of lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 50 pounds and more with additional assistance. In addition, Laboratory Technicians will also be required to perform job tasks that involve bending, lifting, and climbing tanks, or other structures. All Laboratory Technicians must be capable of working varying work shifts and be able to respond to call-out duty as required.
· Starting wage is dependent on experience. If selected for full-time employment a full benefits package including medical/dental/vision is offered.
