Job Summary:
The Part-Time Lab Technician will support essential laboratory operations and assist with experimental work at Ellis Bio. This role is ideal for students, recently-graduates, or early-career scientists seeking hands-on experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, and biotech R&D. Responsibilities include basic wet-lab techniques, reagent preparation, sample handling, and maintaining lab organization. The position offers flexible hours (10–20 hours per week) and the opportunity to participate in the development of next-generation methylation analysis technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform routine molecular biology workflows, including PCR, nucleic acid extraction, purification, quantification, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation steps.
· Support evaluation of genomic and epigenomic assays, with a focus on DNA and RNA methylation analysis and related epigenetic methods.
· Prepare reagents, execute kit testing (e.g., bisulfite conversion kits), and ensure rigorous documentation of experimental procedures and results.
· Assist in data review, report preparation, and contribute to presentations.
· Identify and troubleshoot routine experimental and workflow issues, escalating more complex problems to senior scientists as needed.
· Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a Bachelor’s program in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related discipline , or 1 yr scientific laboratory experience.
- Basic lab skills (pipetting, working in a laboratory environment, following protocols and safety procedures).
- Good time-management skills; ability to adapt to flexible work-schedule.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under supervision, as part of team.
- Good written communication skills and familiarity with basic lab software, such as Excel.
